Popcorn “Baby” Mix in a Jar Shower Favor

Popcorn "Baby" Mix in Jar shower favorHappy Sunday! For my friends who visit my Facebook page, you had a sneak peak at the topper for the baby shower favors I made for my niece’s shower on Saturday. Today, I wanted to share the favor and perhaps provide an idea for the next baby shower YOU might be throwing or attending!

I LOVE favors for celebrations of any kind, and baby showers are so much fun. My niece is expecting a little boy in just under a month – a new baby in the family is always exciting! I thought it would be nice to do something that gave the guests a little sweet treat to share with their families AND have something useful, too.

Remember my Chocolate Covered “Merry Mix” from Christmas? I used the same process, but this time I did a “Baby” Popcorn Mix. You can get the step-by-step directions here. Of course, I used Candiquik to cover the mix with chocolately deliciousness! For the “Baby” mix, I used buttered popcorn, mini marshmallows, peanuts, blue candy coated chocolate drops and peanut butter M&M pastel eggs. I thought I was going to have to pick out all of the pink M&M’s, but they were really more purple, so I used them all and covered the whole mix with Candiquik.

The “Baby” mix was packaged in pint sized Mason jars. These cute little tags were for the top of the jars. I made the tags in Microsoft Word, printed them on white cardstock and punched them out with a 2″ circle punch. Using speckled, off-white cardstock, I punched out 3″ scalloped circles, mounted the printed tags in the center and made dots all around the scallops with Stickles (of course!) in the color Waterfall. They turned out really cute, don’t you think?

I filled the jars with the “Baby” popcorn mix and used two white jumbo sized cupcake liners to cover the top of the jar. I made little pom-poms from this super soft, blue and white yarn, tied the yarn around the cupcake liner and tied on the little pom-pom. Last, but not least, the tag was pasted on top of the cupcake liner.

I was really happy with how these favors turned out and the guests at the shower really liked them!

Here’s a photo of (some) of them lined up in my kitchen!

Since I was making pom-poms, it seemed like a good idea to match up the gift bag to the favors. I found this cute gingham bag at a local party store and tied 3 big pom-poms I had made to the front of the bag. An easy way to add a little extra cuteness to a simple gift bag!

A chocolate covered popcorn mix in a jar is a great sweet and salty treat for a baby shower or any celebration! You can put anything you like in this popcorn mix and Candiquik makes it easy, fast and yummy!

How do you think these little baby favors turned out?

These are so cute! I love it when guests have something to take home – preferably edible and in a unique package – like this one. For some reason the fluffy pompom looks like a “baby bump” to me – making this even more charming!
