It’s true that I have been known sometimes to whine about the necessary evils of maintaining a beauty/skincare regimen. Who am I kidding, really? I know exactly who, what, when, where and why I become totally enamored with all things beauty. Perched, wide-eyed on a bench next to my grandmother, watching with fascination every chance I could get as she expertly elevated herself from beautiful to drop-dead gorgeous. Committing to memory every beauty pearl of wisdom she shared. Realizing that when a women looks amazing into her late 90’s and everyone thinks she is thirty to forty years younger – hello, I think this lady has some unquestionable beauty mojo going on!
My maternal grandmother, who I called “Nanie,” left this earth just months shy of her 100th birthday. Truly, the woman defied logic in how incredible she looked. No surgery, no shots, no interventions of any kind – just her own firmly held beliefs in her own right way of doing things. Yes, I’m sure that some kind of genetics played a role, though I have always held fast to her tips, tricks and advice. I ask you, how could I argue with 99 years of results? (Ok, so I’m sure she didn’t start her skincare and makeup at birth, but you’ll allow me a little liberty, right?)
I think it will be fun to share some of her tips during our Wednesday beauty chats. While products have changed, her basic principles remain the same. Going forward, I’ll refer to her little beauty gems of wisdom as Nanie Tips!
There was never any discussion on Nanie Tip #1 – never have your face in the sun without protection for your skin. Ever. Despite my olive complexion, though hers was fair, this was so drilled into me that I was obsessive about this. In my teens, while all of my friends were happily baking in the sun, there I was, huge hat on or head under a giant umbrella. To say I was teased mercilessly is a major understatement!
I worry most about the area around my eyes – don’t a lot of us? The skin around our eyes is thinner, delicate and let’s be honest, prone to show fine lines and wrinkles sometimes way too soon. If you are in the market for a new daytime eye cream, I highly recommend DDF Protective Eye Cream. I have been using it for three years and for me, that’s an eternity. I’m always looking for the BBBR – better, bigger, beauty result – say THAT three times fast! This cream is lightweight but rich, quickly absorbs into the skin and is not greasy, so you can move on with your make-up fast. Big benefit? It has an SPF 15, so you’re protecting the skin around your gorgeous eyes. It’s been perfect for my sensitive skin – I had such a time finding something that worked for me without burning my skin and this cream has been exceptional.
Yep….definitely think DDF Protective Eye Cream would be Nanie approved. More Nanie tips to come!
Has anyone in your family shared any beauty tips, tricks or ideas that you swear by? Come on, my friends, you so have to share!
Have a beautiful Wednesday!
