Today is a day to celebrate Mom. Though I may not reflect nearly as often as my Mom deserves, on the countless reasons why I love her and am thankful to her, I know those reasons are deeply ingrained in my heart. I’m certain that each lovely one of you will allow me today to focus on my Mom.
I’m forever thankful to my Mom for:
Demonstrating with strength, dignity and grace that even in the face of unimaginable loss and grief, life does go on, with faith and family sustaining us.
Showing me that laughter really IS the very best medicine!
Teaching me that honesty, loyalty and generosity must be freely given and shared, without question.
For being really, really tough on me when it was necessary – and being incredibly supportive and understanding when it was even more so.
For telling me to always wear good underwear in case I’m ever in a car accident – yes, I rolled my eyes all the time, but OMG, you were right!
For sharing wonderful traditions that I hope with all my heart live and grow long after both of us.
For all the zany, funny things you have done over the years – you’ve given me so many hilariously entertaining stories to share. Can you say peach pit? (smiles)
For always believing that I’m talented, creative, brilliant and wonderful, even when I may not.
For letting me become the person I was meant to be, rather than someone you may have hoped I would become.
Most of all, thank you, Mom, for putting me firmly on the path toward being a good mother, but allowing me to find my own way. I think that two incredible young people are proof positive that you pointed me in the absolute right direction and provided the compass needed to navigate the way.
Oh, and Mom? Thank you SO much for the incredible genes….if I look half as beautiful as you when I’m your age, I will be one amazingly, lucky lady!
Wishing love, happiness and joy to every Mom – have a wonderful and beautiful Mother’s Day.
