If you have been hanging out with me for any period of time, you’ve been introduced to my grandparents, Nanie and Pop-Pop. My Italian grandfather, lover of family, holidays, creativity and entertaining, was a primary influence and source of great inspiration to me. Whether it was a Sunday dinner or big party with family and friends, there was always wine. My Nanie was particularly fond of pink drinks, like this fun Pink Blossom. As either a drink for two or a party punch for a crowd, this easy blend of lemonade and rosé wine initially divides into both a foamy layer and light, pretty pink layer. Guess what? I found a reason to make a lemon swizzle stick from the 15 Fun Lemon Facts, Tips & Tricks I shared a few weeks ago!
If you want to make this as a party punch, just double the recipe and put the Pink Blossom in big a punch bowl. You can keep it cold with ice cubes – try freezing cubes with lemon slices or pieces! Or make an ice mold filled with lemons and strawberries, which looks beautiful in a punch.
For the lemon swizzle sticks, I cut think slices of lemon and made a small X at the bottom center of each slice with a sharp knife. I inserted a plastic swizzle stick into the lemon slice and put the sticks in the freezer.
As it turned out, the swizzle sticks were not the right size for the glasses I wanted to use. You’d think I would have checked that, first! So a little improvisation was needed! I grabbed two wooden skewers, cut them to the correct size, popped on the lemon slice and a maraschino cherry.
- 1 12 oz. can frozen lemonade
- 3 cups (almost one bottle) of rosé
- 12 ice cubes
- Whole strawberries for garnish OR
- Lemon Swizzle Sticks – One slice of lemon and a maraschino cherry for each stick
In a blender, combine the lemonade, rosé and ice cubes. Blend at high speed until ice is crushed and the mixture is very foamy. At first, the entire thing is a foamy white! The foam rises, with a light pink layer beneath. Instead of traditional wine glasses, serve the Pink Blossom in tall glasses.
These cool, retro glasses with the silver rims and initial belonged to my hubby’s parents and I thought they were absolutely perfect for the Pink Blossom! Don’t they look pretty with the drink?
By the time you are reading this, my friends, I will hopefully be on the beach and immersed in either a good book or a nice nap! We are on vacation for 10 glorious days! A few of my wonderful friends will be generously sharing some awesome guest posts, of course I’ll be at the Best of the Weekend party on Friday and I might even be at another party this week, too!
I’ll still be sharing lots of great things over on Facebook and maybe even some ocean views! It’s hard to believe we’ll be heading into fall and all things football, Halloween and holidays when I get back. I’m so excited for my favorite time of year!
Thanks for visiting today and a little Pink Blossom toast to a wonderful week, a lovely day and a perfect end to the summer season.
Linking up to these great parties!
