Over the summer, I was on some serious beauty and skincare missions and wow, did I ever learn how many mistakes I didn’t know I was making! My latest issue of In Style arrives or I’m watching the always fabulous Lisa Robertson on QVC, or I’m running around to all the counters at Nordstrom. What’s THAT pretty package? That does WHAT? Ohhhh…is that NEW? I was like a beauty Rambo locked and loaded with a credit card aimed at…anything! What did I need? What were my skincare issues? Where, I ask you, was my plan? My road littered with half-empty bottles, tubes and shattered beauty dreams, I tell you, my friends – map your skincare needs before you buy products!
Before we even talk about makeup – we have to talk about skincare. Our best and most beautiful skin is the canvas we want to enhance and present to the world. No one knows our skin and all its little idiosyncrasies, issues, challenges and fabulousness better than we do! I’m reining it in and we’re taking a more strategic approach, starting now!
I beg of you, please don’t be too hard on me for my hand-drawn face! I took enough grief from Mr. Smarty Pants, who liked the face but will not stop about the hair. It’s pulled back and it’s not about the hair, Mr. Smarty Pants! I’m well aware that I’m no Picasso! We’ll call our face Francesca (the name I would rename myself, if I could.) Francesca is for doodling, drawing and helping to map out all of your own skincare needs. She’s at the end of your own personal beauty blueprint, which includes these questions for you to fill out for your skincare strategy:
My skin is primarily:
My biggest skincare challenge/concern(s) are:
- Clogged Pores
- Uneven/Dark Spots
- Dark Circles Under Eyes
- Fine Lines
I’d like to address these things about my skin!
In the fall/winter, my face becomes:
My current skincare routine is:
Skincare products I currently use:
Here’s a Microsoft Word 2010 document that you can fill right out onscreen and a PDF if you’d like to print it and write it in! Francesca is in there, too! 🙂
You can see that I started mapping out some of my concerns – yes, I need a second face to finish! With our skincare blueprints in hand, we’ll be ready to start talking products. Whew, it definitely feels better to have a plan, doesn’t it? Now we’re prepared, focused and on point before we buy a single product. It has absolutely put me on track and I hope you find this little blueprint helpful!
Now, I’m off to have a few more words with you-know-who concerning his wisecracks about Francesca’s hair. Has that man learned nothing after all these years of marriage? 🙂
Thanks for sharing a little beauty chat today and whatever you do today, I know you’ll be beautiful, just be strategic!
