I am absolutely tickled pink to have a very special guest today sharing on Flashback Friday! Please help me welcome my dear friend, the lovely Joy from Yesterfood.
I have loved Betsy McCall since I was a very little girl. The popular paper doll was published in McCall’s magazine from 1951 until about 1995. My grandmother subscribed to McCall’s Magazine, and she would always save the paper dolls for me. To my 6 year old self, the tediously long span of time between publications always seemed to be much longer than one month. The arrival of the magazine made for a very special day.
There was always a story about some trip or adventure that Betsy had enjoyed, and then the best part- a paper doll and clothes that went along with the tale.
I collected Betsy McCall paper dolls from the 1960s for awhile, and have brought some of them to share with you today.
Did you play with paper dolls when you were a child? Which one was your favorite?
Joy, thank you so much for sharing Betsy with us and I LOVE having you here today – sending big hugs to you! Joy totally surprised me with an email that had her lovely and perfect Flashback Friday post. I have to tell you, I was touched beyond words! Joy and I are kindred spirits and share a love of vintage recipes, old cookbooks and more. In the very rare chance you haven’t visited Joy’s wonderful blog, Yesterfood, pop over and visit!
