As old man winter swoops in and makes his frosty presence felt, there’s nothing like a warm cup of cocoa to help banish the winter chill. Let’s take our warm, winter drink to the flip side and make it – vanilla! What better flavor for the season than sugar cookie? We’re putting in a little extra holiday spirit on this Sugar Cookie Hot Vanilla with Candied Marshmallows! Even if it’s balmy where you live, I have a way to enjoy this delicious drink cold, too!
I always associate sugar cookies with the holiday season. We have a wonderful bakery in our neighborhood that makes THE best sugar cookies. Thin, crisp, just the right amount of sweetness, the sugar cookies from Simon’s Bakery just melt in your mouth! As it gets closer to Christmas, you’d better be at the bakery when they open – the cookies are usually sold out early in the morning every day!
This drink is the best of warmth, vanilla and sugar cookies – creamy, thick and with just the right amount of sweetness and cookie flavor. A little bit of nutmeg adds another dimension of nutty, winter flavor. It’s a great and delicious combination! Make some chocolate and vanilla dipped marshmallows, sprinkled with holiday colored nonpareils and candy snowflakes for an extra treat, to eat, dip or dunk!
Sugar Cookie Hot Vanilla with Candied Marshmallows
Makes 4 servings
- 1 and ½ cups 2% milk
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- ½ cup Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- Large marshmallows
- Vanilla and chocolate flavored CandiQuik
- Nonpareils and candy snowflakes, or your choice of sprinkles
Combine milk and heavy whipping cream in a large pot and warm over medium heat. Add vanilla and cookie mix, whisking continuously until cookie mix is dissolved. Continue stirring over medium heat until small bubbles form around the edges – do not let it boil! Ladle into cups and serve immediately. If not served immediately and skin forms, whisk over low heat.
For marshmallows – melt CandiQuik in vanilla, chocolate or both according to package directions and place melted candy in a deep bowl. I put the marshmallows on the end of a wooden skewer; dip into melted candy and let excess drip off. Immediately sprinkle with nonpareils, snowflakes or other candies. Place on wax paper to set and store in an airtight container or Zip-lock bag.
I’m not forgetting my friends in warm climates! This is also amazing cold! My daughter threw a cup in the blender with some ice, whipped it on high speed and said it was the most delicious smoothie ever! You could even put a little ice cream in there, too. Sugar Cookie Hot Vanilla AND Sugar Cookie Smoothie! I feel like I’m representing both Mr. Heat Miser and Mr. Snow Mesier from The Year Without A Santa Claus! 🙂 Have you seen that adorable holiday show? It is one of our favorites and no matter how old my daughter is, we still watch it every year.
Whatever the weather is like where YOU live, stay warm, stay cool and enjoy the season! I hope you’re following along on the 12 Days of Christmas Tour! I can’t even tell you how much I’m enjoying it every day! Mine is on Thursday and I still have lots to get done! I don’t usually do home, so it will be interesting, to say the least! 🙂 Oh, and if you haven’t yet entered the Merry Moolah $500 Giveaway, there are just a few days left! Some extra $$ for the holidays sounds pretty merry, don’t you think?
Thanks for visiting today! We’re having more snow – think I’ll making more Sugar Cookie Hot Vanilla! 🙂
