When we’re in the kitchen baking or cooking, there’s always a lot of love that goes into our recipes. I found a heart-shaped cooling rack in the bottom of a box of stuff from my mother-in-law. With a little Valentine’s Day Inspiration and love from the kitchen, plus a few heart-shaped magnets, this is easily transformed into a cute recipe holder! I have so many handwritten recipes on recipe cards. It seems like every time I pull one out to get ingredients together, the card mysteriously disappears! With this Cooling Rack Recipe Holder & Magnets, there’s always a place to keep the recipe right where I can find it.
This was a super quick project. I took about 4 yards of double-faced, red satin ribbon and cut it into two pieces. I wove a piece over and under each side of the rack, leaving a tail at the top and bottom centers and tied the tails into bows.
Some 1 & ½” wooden hearts got a few coats of red paint. Once they were dry, I hot-glued magnets to the back of the hearts. Since the cooling rack is metal, the heart magnets stick right to it!
These adorable, small scrapbook embellishment stickers were from JoAnn and the perfect size to dress up the magnets and the rack! I added some of the stickers to the magnets and some directly to the cooling rack; I used some white craft glue to make certain the stickers were secure.
It perfectly holds one of my recipe cards! I can also use it to hold a grocery list or leave little notes for the family.
You could transform any small (or large!) cooling rack into a recipe holder or a place to hold all those little papers and notes. Grab some wooden pieces, paint them, add some magnets and embellish any way you like and create your own cooling rack masterpiece! I always need to have things in my line of sight or it’s guaranteed I will forget about it or miss something important!
What do you think? I’m so happy with how this turned out and thrilled that I was able to transform something I had on hand into something useful. Oh, and the fact that’s kind of adorable doesn’t hurt either. It’s always fun to see what we have around the house that can be changed into something else.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. Find something in your house that inspires you to create something fun!
