Valentine’s Day is just a few days away and I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I always struggle with what to do for my husband. We don’t typically make a big fuss over Valentine’s Day, though we always do a little something special for one another. I think that most people demonstrate love for their special someone in countless big and little ways every single day. Often, we show our love much more through our actions rather than through words. It seems that sometimes, even saying I love you doesn’t seem to quite capture the depth of feeling we need to express. Today, I’m sharing an easy, simple Washi Tape Frame and gift inspired by another powerful, three words from one of my very favorite songs – Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden.
All we need for this quick gift is a simple, black 8 ½ x 11” wooden or metal frame, some Washi tape, white cardstock and letters, either purchased or cut out with a die cutting machine, if you have one. I used some red and white chevron Washi tape around the outside of the black frame.
With my Cricut and the Sophisticated cartridge, I cut out the words, Truly, Madly, Deeply in black, red and deep cranberry cardstock. Once the letters spelling the words were glued to the white cardstock, I added some contrasting red, black & cranberry dots between the letters with Stickles, for a bit of sparkle.
I cut two hearts, one large and one small, from white cardstock and covered the hearts with black and white chevron Washi tape. I glued a red rhinestone off center on each heart and glued the two hearts to the frame, one on the top left and one on the bottom right. Add the cardstock with the saying and the gift is ready! I also think this will look great hanging on the wall or on a bedside table.
I can’t believe this song was released back in 1997 – I think it will always remain one of my very favorite songs! We don’t always need a lot of words to say what is in our heart. Truly, Madly, Deeply are another three words that, to me, convey commitment, devotion, dedication and a life that would be much less radiant were it not shared with a certain someone.
Just in case you haven’t heard the song, or it’s been 17 years since you’ve listened to it, :), you can hear it on YouTube here. If you need a last minute gift for the guy who makes you feel Truly, Madly, Deeply, you can put this together in no time flat!
What special song perfectly captures and expresses the meaning of love to you? What is your favorite love song? Stop back on Valentine’s Day, when I’m going to share a list of favorite songs about love.
