Paper Mache Teapot Box for Mom

Paper Mache Teapot Box for Mom - fill with tea, a gift card, flowers or more! A special treasure box for Mom from littlemisscelebration.comMost of us started making little gifts and cards for our moms and grandmoms when we were little. My fellow moms, I know we love and cherish every gift our own children have made for us! We’re never too old to make something special for our moms or other special ladies who are like moms to us. My mom still loves when I make her a gift for Mother’s Day! This Paper Mache Teapot Box for Mom gets a pretty coat of blue and is sprinkled with punched paper flowers. Can any of us girls have too many boxes to hold our treasures?

The teapot box is easy and fun to make and you know my love of two in one gifts! Some go-with ideas at the end of the post

  • Paper Mache Teapot by Craft Pedlars from Create for Less
  • DecoArt Americana Paints in Turquoise Blue and Cool White
  • 15” ribbon of your choice
  • Two pieces of white cardstock
  • Flower punches, large and small
  • Yellow Stickles
  • White craft glue
  • Mod Podge in Matte Finish and for Fabric
  • Foam brushes
  • 4” inch sheer silver white wired ribbon (optional)

First, I gave the paper mache teapot and lid two coats of white paint, inside and out, to provide a nice base. Next, I gave the outside of the teapot and the lid two coats of turquoise paint, leaving the band around the top of the teapot white.

Let’s give this box some flower power! I punched large and small flowers out of white cardstock with a paper punches. For some dimension, I layered a small flower over a larger one and adhered with craft glue.

I had this pretty blue ribbon with sparkly polka dots in my ribbon stash and thought it would make a fun band around the teapot! I used Fabric Mod Podge to attach the ribbon around the teapot. Cut the ribbon and attach in two pieces, so keep it smooth and flat.

I had this pretty blue ribbon with sparkly polka dots in my ribbon stash and thought it would make a fun band around the teapot! I used Fabric Mod Podge to attach the ribbon around the teapot. Cut the ribbon and attach in two pieces, so that it stays smooth and flat. The flowers were attached to the teapot and lid with Mod Podge. Make any fun pattern you like. Don’t forget the handle and spout! I bent some of the flowers around the handle and lid and smoothed them into place with my finger.

To give our flowers a little pop and sparkle, I added a big dot of yellow Stickles to the center of each flower and let dry.

Finish the teapot with a coat or two of Mod Podge to seal. How about a fun, finishing touch? Curl a 4” piece of sheer, wired silver white ribbon and place it in the spout. Now, our teapot is “steaming!”

You can write or glue letters to inside of the lid with a special message to Mom – I’m waiting to do that so it’s just between me and Mom. :)
Some ideas of what to include with your teapot gift!

  • If Mom is a tea drinker, fill the box with an assortment of her favorite teas.
  • Have a great place in town that serves afternoon tea? Get a gift card, put it in the pot and treat Mom to a special afternoon!
  • Add any small gift or gift card inside the pot – what a fun way to give a double gift!
  • Place a small plastic bowl inside the pot with some damp flower foam and fill with flowers. You could also make a pretty, silk flower arrangement inside.

Isn’t this just darling? I just love how happy, bright, and cheerful it is. The best part is that every time Mom sees it or take out a teabag, she’ll have a little hug of love from us.

Thanks so much for visiting today and I’ll have another couple of fun just-for-Mom ideas on the way!
