Lisa from hoopla palooza asked me to take the reins next in this blog tour, that provides a little peek into the blog writing process. If you haven’t met Lisa, get over there and say hello to this funny, oh-so-creative lady! She is always whipping up the most fun things and serving them up with a big side of laughter and smiles. Thank you, Lisa, for inviting me on this little journey, but did you really HAVE to be an almost impossible act to follow?
You can read Lisa’s blog writing post here. Each blogger on the tour is answering the same four questions, so off we go!
What Am I Working On?
There are always way too many ideas in my head. WAY too many! The big challenge for me is figuring out how to get them from my head to reality to something that will be fun & inspiring. Oh, and do this while trying to grab a little sleep. Not lose my job. Praying that somehow, some way, my family will fail to notice what a disaster the house has become since I started blogging!
There’s this really bad habit that I can’t seem to break. I think of a couple of projects, gather all (most) of the things I need to make/cook/bake them and then POW! Ten more things bubble up and before you know it, I have dozens of yet to be started, yet to be finished projects literally….everywhere. I woke up this morning with lots of weird lines impressed on my cheek. No, it wasn’t some escalated, overnight aging. I feel asleep on a pompom. That about sums it up!
What I’m TRYING to work on this month is:
- Some fun July 4th projects, including that pompom I’m wearing on my face today!
- A cute little bridal shower gift for a sweet friend at work
- A few summer projects that I’d planned to do ages ago; like a beach inspired wooden handbag, for one. Wonder if I’ll actually get that made this year?
- Actually getting the ice cream maker I got for Christmas and the sewing machine from my 2013 birthday (yes, that year is not a typo!) OUT of their boxes!
How Does My Work Differ From Other of its Genre?
The blogging community is made up of thousands of fun, generous, creative, friendly, inspiring and amazing people. I am so often awestruck by the ideas, recipes and photography shared each and every day by the creative geniuses across blogland.
Every person who blogs is unique, different and special because they pour their heart and soul into sharing themselves in every post they create.
As far as I’m concerned….I’m just being me and tickled silly to be part of this crazy, wonderful, imaginative world that is blogging!
Why Do I Write What I Do?
My mom said I was born with an over-active imagination. I was always making stuff, organizing neighborhood parties, baking in my Easy Bake Oven and dragging my little friends – the unfortunate friends who were not lucky enough to hide first – into my wild schemes and ideas. My family indulged it when I was growing up. My hubby and kids indulged it when they were growing up. Now that I’ve aged to some level of imperfection, YOU guys are indulging it. I appreciate it, too!
How Does Your Writing Process Work?
Oh, is this the million dollar question! My admiration for so many of my organized, planned in advance, blogging friends is boundless – and I’m SO not one of them! My mind may always be churning and burning, but I’ve always been a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of gal. Middle of the night brilliance, piles of bags from Michael’s and a bursting fridge do not equal fun, inspiring posts – but a girl can hope, right? 😉 Usually, I wake up in a cold sweat at 3:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning, thinking OMG, I overslept and need to make things for the blog!
I’m usually working feverishly all day on Saturday and Sunday. Praying I don’t accidentally combine glitter with butter or mix glue into flour. Outside in PJ’s at some point, trying to take photos. (Welcome to the neighborhood, new next-door neighbors! No, I’m really not too lazy to get dressed on the weekends, I’m a blogger!) Shaking and swearing my way through photo editing. Trying to put it all together into something semi-coherent and hopefully, quasi-fun, while drinking my third cup of coffee at 10:00 p.m. It is not, my friends, usually a pretty scene!
For some reason, I’ve always been one of those people who work best under pressure. That line has been working for a lot of years, so I’m not going to change it now!
Despite the hectic pace, no sleep, dark circles under my eyes and yes, even yarn cheeks, I love every moment and all of the friends I’m making along the way even more!
My blogging buddy and one of my Best of the Weekend co-hosts, Claire, is up next in the series. Many of you already know Claire and her fabulous blog, A Little Claireification. Everything Claire does is fabulous and she has the BEST sense of humor! You will definitely not want to miss her post next week, so mark your calendar!

Wow, you guys are amazing for hanging in there with me through this post! If you ever happen to be driving around Maryland, and see a lady in pajamas, with wild, glittered, uncombed hair, weird lines on her face and a camera, don’t be alarmed. Just beep the horn and wave. That’ll be me. 🙂
It doesn’t matter if you blog or not – are you a planner or more of a let’s wing-it kind of person?
Thank you so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
