Easy, Prettied-Up Sneakers

Ready-made flowers, fabric glue & ribbon laces make easy, prettied-up sneakers! At littlemisscelebration.comWhether we call them sneakers, tennis shoes or kicks, canvas sneakers seem to be everywhere. I’ve seen so many fun ways to decorate them all summer! I decided to throw a little more sneaker inspiration out there with these easy, prettied-up sneakers. Ready-made, felt flowers with a little bit of bling in the center and these white, canvas sneakers get a fast and easy makeover!

Usually, I don’t wear sneakers too often, except when I’m working out…and honestly, I’ve been doing a heck of a lot less of that since I started blogging. Yes, I need to do something about that! Mr. Smarty Pants always teased me about not wearing sneakers because they didn’t have heels – ok, probably true! I’ve been on a flats kick for the past year and my feet have been singing their praises. It’s totally time to add some fun, pretty sneakers.

These white, canvas sneakers came from Target. I found the white and turquoise blue felt flowers, with turquoise, rhinestone centers at Michaels.

You can use either Fabric Mod Podge or fabric glue to attach the flowers to the shoes. I added flowers all around the shoes and let them dry overnight. Where the round was rounded, I had to hold the flower in place for bit until the glue set. The shoe laces were replaced with 3/8, sheer, turquoise and white-dotted ribbon by Offray. I measured the ribbon by the length of the lace and added an extra inch or two, using two piece of ribbon for each shoe.

Once the ribbon was laced through the holes and I’d tied a nice bow, I tripled-knotted the end of each ribbon. A bit of No Fray was added to the end of each ribbon before it was cut at an angle. I’ve seen a product advertised by Rustoleum called NeverWet, a water repelling treatment that can also be used on shoes. I’m going to get some and try it on my shoes!

For big girls or little girls, a pair of prettied-up sneakers can dress up a pair of jeans and give us fancy, sneakered feet!

  1. I think I just bought those same sneakers! I haven’t worn them, I always end up throwing on the flip flops instead. ;) Maybe if they were as pretty as yours, I would actually wear them!!

  2. Eeee! SO cute! I want a pair in every color! These are so you, Cindy. ♥ Pinned!

Omg!! These are so adorable, Cindy! I have to admit, I hate wearing shoes …. but my daughter is always wearing them – and she loves pretty ones! She would go nuts over shoes like this!!

Oh my heavens those sneakers are so blasted adorable, love them. Will have to watch for Target to have them on sale again so I can get another pair. Seems when I have money they’re not on sale, blast it. They feel really good on. The little flowers with gems are priceless Cindy and that ribbon is perfect with flowers. I’ll have to look for pink ones maybe, that would be cute all spiffied up also. You are so clever, can’t wait to do this. Glad you shared this project. I love the aqua/white flowers and ribbon together.
I have those same white sneakers also. They are more supportive than others I’ve tried, (affordable ones anyway). I pretty much have to wear a sneaker that holds my foot well due to lymphedema in left foot and calf. Not too much in thigh area.
If I don’t wear a supportive shoe in summer especially my foot and ankle, calf swells up like crazy. I’d love to have to have 2 or 3 more pairs. I wear them for fashion/support, Not much choice especially if I’ll be on my feet for while. Happy week

  5. Even if I didn’t use the flowers (which is pretty) , I love the idea of the ribbon laces. I will have to see if I can find a pair to do that with.

    Thanks for sharing!

  6. Your sneakers are all dolled up and they are georgous. I normally only wear them to exercise and, like you, I had cut way back since starting my blog. I have been trying to remedy that lately. :)

  7. Oh, Cindy, these make me so happy to look at. I would just wear them around the house because of someone dared stop on them there’d be trouble! pinning

  8. Your sneakers are adorable Cindy! I love your choice of colors. I would wear them around the house, too….just because they’re so cute!

  9. Only you could take a pair of ordinary sneakers and make them over the moon adorable!

Now go out and do some Zumba :).

  10. So cute! I wonder if me 10 yr old would let me do this to a pair of her shoes?

  11. These came out so cute.
