Candy Corn PVC Candle Jackets - Little Miss Celebration

Battery-operated or electric candles look so pretty and welcoming in our windows. Let’s give them their own adorable, Halloween costumes! With an inexpensive length of PVC pipe for under $2.00, a little paint and ribbon, it’s so easy to create these Candy Corn PVC Candle Jackets. I wanted something to match my Candy Corn Pompom Wreaths, and these sweet candle jackets turn my ordinary, electric candles totally Halloween happy!

One inch PVC pipe fits perfectly over most candles – and there’s a little quick trick to make sure the finished “jackets” stay nice and snug!

Here are the supplies we need to make the candle jackets:

Length of 1” PVC pipe (from Lowe’s)
Hacksaw and coarse sanding block
Electric or battery-operated candles
DecoArt Acrylic Gesso
Acrylic paint in white, yellow & orange
Electrical tape
Ruler, paint brushes, Frog Tape
1 yard of ribbon

Measure the candle portion of your electric or battery-operated candle – all of them are different sizes! Mine measured 4 ½”. Mark off the number of lengths you need on the PVC pipe and cut to size with a hacksaw. Use a coarse sanding black to sand the cut ends as smooth as possible. To cover the writing on the PVC pipe, give each cut piece a coat of DecoArt Acrylic Gesso. This will cover up the writing and provide an even, smooth painting surface.

Measure off sections for the white, yellow and orange paint. Just like a real candy corn, make the white section the smallest, the yellow larger and the largest section, orange. Tape off the sections with Frog Tape and paint each section with two coats of acrylic paint. Let dry.

Use electrical tape to make sure that the candle jacket fits tightly on the candle and doesn’t slide around. Wrap electrical tape around the bottom portion of the candle, so it doesn’t show once the painted jacket is put on the candle. Add or remove tape until the PVC jacket can easily slide on the candle but doesn’t move.

As a final touch, add ribbon to the bottom of the candle and tie into a bow. I used the same candy corn colored ribbon that I used on the pompom wreaths, so they coordinate!

That’s all there is to it! So CUTE, don’t you think? The candles get their own little “costumes” and I love how they look with the wreaths and can’t wait to put everything in the windows this week. I was thinking of glittering the candle jackets, but was torn – what do you think, glitter or no glitter?

Now, just in case you’re wondering what to do with that extra PVC pipe, just tuck that away for about a month or so! We’re going to be making some really cute Christmas candle jackets in November! There just might be one more candy-corn themed project in October, though!
