The turkey gets stuffed for
Thanksgiving dinner – how
about sweet, stuffed turkey treat? These Oreo Stuffed Candy Turkey Cookies are big and thick, filled
with Double Stuf Oreos, “painted” with colored CANDIQUIK® vanilla candy coated and finished with
chocolate flavored CANDIQUIK. These little gobblers will make a colorful addition to the holiday dessert
table or have enough Thanksgiving presence to be wrapped as take home favors for a midnight treat.
If you’ve been visiting for a while, you know I love making candy coated Oreos! I recently picked up some new, extra-large cookie molds, like this Turkey, made by SpinningLeaf.
CANDQUIK coating makes it easy! CANDIQUIK melts perfectly in the microwave and can be colored with oil-based or powdered candy colorings. Don’t use icing color! Wilton makes oil-based candy colors; I used orange, yellow, red and black to color melted vanilla CANDIQUIK.
If you haven’t seen my candy-making tip before, once I melt the vanilla and color it, I place all the colored, melted candy in small bowls and keep it nice & melty in my trusty (old) electric frying pan, filled about half-way with water and kept on low. This electric frying pan has gotten tons of candy-making use!
Use a small candy brush to “paint” in the colors. Let each color set before moving on to a new color. You can pop the mold in the refrigerator for a minute or so.
Melt the chocolate flavored CANDIQUIK, add a small amount to the candy-painted mold and add a Double Stuf Oreo to each mold cavity. Top off each cavity with melted chocolate candy and tap the mold on the table or counter a few times to remove any air bubbles. Place the mold in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes or until the mold looks frosty. Carefully unmold the candy turkey cookies onto a few layers of paper towels.
You could also make these turkey cookies all in chocolate, vanilla or another color, but they look so festive with their red, orange and yellow candy feathers!
Making molded Oreos and other candy treats is a holiday tradition around my house. Molds make it easy to turn out beautiful and professional looking special sweets that everyone will love. I just might be sharing another cute Oreo treat soon!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

These are so, so cute. I had to click on this post to see how you made them. It doesn’t look too complicated either!

Hi Cindy – These look more professional than what you would get in a real confection store! They are… confection perfection. They look too adorable to eat, but I would probably eat the entire batch because I kinda have a thing for double stuff oreo’s. Hugs, Holly

You did a great job with these. They are of course adorable for Thanksgiving and I have no doubt they taste great. I have tried to paint this type of mold with candy melts and it isn’t easy to get a nice crisp line…in fact it is really hard. You have to be very patient and have a lot of restraint.. Great job because your look really good. .
