Make a batch of white, pink & red Sweetheart Popcorn for Valentine’s Day. Sweet, salty and fruity, this popcorn mix combines butter, vanilla CandiQuik, jimmies and Strawberry Shortcake Candy Corn. Pack it up in little jars or bags for a sweet Valentine’s treat.
Popcorn mixes are such a great way to create a treat for any occasion, because we can mix up just about any combination of flavors we can imagine! It also goes a long way if you’re packing up a holiday treat for the classroom, friends or having a party. You all KNOW how much I love candy corn – so when I spotted this Strawberry Shortcake Candy Corn from Brach’s, all pink, red & white, I was in a Valentine swoon! On the spot, I knew I had to make a popcorn mix!
In addition to the Strawberry Shortcake Candy Corn – which I found at Michaels – all you need is popcorn, vanilla CandiQuik, pink, red & white jimmies, butter & salt. I popped about a ½ cup of popcorn the old-fashioned way, in a large pot on the stove. Of course, you can use microwave popcorn or pop it in an air popper. Next, melt about four to five tablespoons of butter, put over the popped corn, add salt and mix with a spatula. The butter and salt helps to build the flavor combination. Stir well with a spatula – I just had to use my love spatula! ?
I love CandiQuik, as you know! I love that comes in its own microwavable tray, melts beautifully in under 90 seconds and tastes delicious! I used about half the tray for this mix; let the rest of the melted candy harden and pop the whole tray in a large, zip-lock storage bag for another use. Drizzle large tablespoons of melted CandiQuik over the popcorn sprinkling with jimmies and adding candy corn and mix. Continue adding melted candy, jimmies & corn, stirring the whole mixture with a large spatula, until it’s covered as much or as little as you like.
In each bite, you get a little buttery taste, a little salt, a little sweet, and a fruity taste of strawberry! I seriously could not stop eating it…I’m sure I had the guiltiest look on my face when Mr. Smarty Pants came in the room and saw the major dent I’d put in the bowl. ? Well, I DID manage to leave a lot for everyone else, at least!
This is a perfect, sweet and colorful Valentine’s treat that’s not too over-the-top sweet!
My daughter & I love Valentine’s Day, because we adore all things pink, white, red and hearts! It’s definitely the perfect time of the year to indulge that, so expect so see some Cupid-inspired projects coming up.
