Profess your love for everything fall fabulous with this Autumn Favorites Chalkboard! Give a wooden surface a few coats of chalkboard paint and add your own fall favorite things with chalk and chalk markers. Draw a few pictures to match your faves, add some silk leaves for color and texture and hang! This décor chalkboard will keep the fall feeling right up until December every year.
What do I love about fall? Everything! It was a little tough to narrow down a list that would actually fit on this surface; I easily could have made a board three times the size! I nabbed this wooden plaque, which measures about 15” x 21”, at Michaels in August. To be honest, I bought two. I made a wedding chalkboard over the summer for a friend’s bridal shower and knew I wanted to make a fall chalkboard for me. ? You can use any sized wood surface. Give it 2-3 coats of chalkboard paint.
Decide on your favorite fall things you want on your chalkboard. Type them out on the computer, using a few different fonts and sizes. As luck would have it, the day I worked on this project, my printer was nearly out of ink, so my words printed in this fuzzy, weird green color. Hopefully, you get the idea! Cut the words out and decide how you want them on your board.
Use a piece of chalk to cover the back of each word with a good layer of chalk. Lay the paper, chalk side down, on your board and trace each word onto the chalkboard with a pencil. Go back over each word with chalk or chalk markers. Once you’re done, clean up the chalk dust with a damp cloth. Let’s be honest, here, I wasn’t as accurate with my transferring as I’ve been with other chalkboards…but if I focus on the whole instead of parts, I love how it turned out!
Picasso I am NOT, but I drew a few fun things to go with my “favorites.” A football, a pumpkin, a partial harvest moon, some stalks of hay and an apple. For a finishing touch, I glued a few silk leaves I had in my craft stash to mimic falling leaves. Ok, to be honest, the last time I was on a hay ride was in my teens – MANY harvest moons ago! ? I have sweet memories of hay rides with my church youth group back in the day, so it just has to be part of my fall faves!
I adore this perfectly imperfect visual of this great season! What’s your favorite season? What fave things would be on your autumn favorites chalkboard?
Thank you for your sweet autumn visit!

Hi Cindy, Autumn is my favorite season with the crisp air and colorful foliage. I love the throwback simplicity of this blackboard. It’s a great way to include the kids in autumn decor. Enjoy the season!
