Every Christmas tree needs a few new ornaments each year – made by you! Decorated Laser Cut Ornaments are simple, laser cut wooden shapes just waiting to be transformed by your holiday imagination. A little paint, ribbon, some scrapbook supplies plus a dash of sparkle, and you’ve created ornaments are sure to make Santa smile!
Ahh, Christmas ornaments! From fancy to simple, the lovelies that decorate our tree each year are not only beautiful they’re filled with memories. It takes me forever to unpack my holiday ornaments, because I’m reminiscing about when, where or how we got each one. The ornaments my children made – tiny paper candy canes, trees or wooden stars – that mean the most to me. I think making ornaments, for our own trees and to give as gifts, is sharing a piece of our holiday heart. I was immediately taken with these simple laser cut wooden ornaments at Michaels and couldn’t wait to transform them!
Unleash your holiday imagination! Here’s how mine took over with these! All of my supplies came from Michaels. J First, I snipped off the jute hangers, because I wanted to use thin, satin ribbon to match the ornaments. Next, I gave each a few coats of white paint; once that was dry, I painted the outside edges.
One ornament was done in red and white, with a few red gems added with glue. A scrapbook sticker was glued to the center, some black dots added with a fine point marker, and a red ribbon was added for hanging.
This ornament was painted in white and blue. Sparkle was added to the frame with Stickles glitter glue in Waterfall. An adorable owl scrapbook “jar” sticker was added and some sparkly snowflakes were drawn with glitter glue. This one has a blue ribbon hanger.
The cardinal ornament was painted with white, red, green and brown acrylic paints. Glitter glue was added to the frame and a few berry gems were glued on. This ornament also got a red ribbon hanger.
I actually finished these ornaments on both sides, but go figure, I completely forgot to take photos of the OTHER side! The cardinal is a mirror image; the other two have a different sticker on the back. They’ll look great from any angle on the tree!
