Make this easy Valentine chalkboard for a pretty place to leave sweet messages for your family! A ready-made, heart-shaped chalkboard makes this project super quick. Add some sparkle, felt birds and a ribbon for hanging; it’s ready for some special love messages each day!
Don’t you just love, love, LOVE the dollar spot at Target? I’m kind of convinced that area has some super powerful magnetic force, because I’m pulled right there every single time I’m in the store! ? Honestly, though, I always find the most darling seasonal and craft items that absolutely won’t bust the budget. I snagged this heart-shaped chalkboard as soon as I saw it – thank you very much, Target dollar spot!
Of course, it’s cute enough to hang and go, but you know me better than that, right? We can easily add a little sparkle and embellishment to up the cute factor! My favorite Stickles glitter glue is perfect for this project – I used Red to completely outline the scalloped edge of the heart and added bright dots in Glam Pink along the raised heart outline. It was easy to add a “pearl” to the center of each scallop with Liquid Pearls in white. It took less than 15 minutes to add the Stickles and pearls, and I let it all dry overnight.
These adorable felts lovebirds in pink, red and black are from a pack of Valentine felt embellishments from the Creatology line at Michaels. Using craft glue, I added two birds and a small flower to the bottom of the chalkboard. Ok, they definitely bring the cute factor!
The chalkboard comes pre-strung with twine for hanging, though I like ribbon hangers best! It took just a moment or two to snip off the twine, threaded through a Valentine-themed ribbon through the holes and knotted each side of the ribbon.
We’re all finished except for our message! You can use either chalk or chalk markers to add a special sentiment. I love the idea of hanging this where your family will see it each morning, and changing it with a sweet, new message every day!
My daughter loves all things heart-shaped, so I won’t be surprised if she winds up claiming this for her own! Thanks for visiting today and have a great day!
