Father’s Day may be less than a week away, but you can make this Easy Snack Crate for Dad in no time! A small wooden crate that’s pre-painted with a chalkboard front makes it a snap to put together a snack box just for Dad. Chalk words to the chalkboard surface, add an outline of small, blue buttons and fill with Dad’s favorite munchies.
It probably seemed like I’d completely forgotten about dear old Dad! Whether Dad likes to watch sports – like Mr. Smarty Pants, who watches every single game played by our hometown Orioles! – is a movie buff or just likes to chill in with remote control in hand, he’ll appreciate a special box filled with his favorite TV-watching treats. He can refill the box and keep it near his favorite chair or spot on the sofa.
You can put this gift together in no time because it starts with a small crate from Michael’s that’s already painted a great Dad blue and finished with a chalkboard front. No painting means you can get right to decorating and filling with goodies!
You can go straight to writing on the chalkboard, or, if you want to be sure that your words fit, trace the draw a rectangle the size of the chalkboard on a piece of paper and cut out. Sketch you words out to fit or print them from the computer. I decided to just free-hand the words “Dad’s Snack Box.”
I covered the back of the paper with chalk and used a pencil to trace the words onto the chalkboard. You can get a lot of chalk dust, which can all easily be cleaned up a damp cloth.
Use chalk, a chalk marker or a combination of the two on the traced letters. Add a little extra embellishment by gluing small blue buttons around the chalkboard. I used Gem-Tac glue to attach the buttons to the box. Once the buttons were set, I filled the box with some of my hubby’s favorite snacks. I may add a few movies to the box before next Sunday and definitely a bag of peanuts. ?
Sometimes, it can be a challenge to come up with gifts for the guys. My hubby always he has everything he needs! I know he’ll be tickled to have his own personal snack box. You absolutely can get this box decorated in time for Father’s Day!
Thanks so much for your visit!

This is a nice idea. If I gave my hubby his own snack box by his recliner, he’d be in heaven! Thanks for sharing with us at Merry Monday.
I love this idea. It would be the perfect gift not just for dad but for anyone who likes to spend time in front of a screen. Pinning and sharing.
